London to Dakar 2005 Rally
Steve Dickenson - RAM Man (Roving Reporter)

RAM-man (Steve Dickenson) aka Roving Reporter was at the start line at Brooklands Motor Museum, Weybridge, Surrey for the London to Dakar World Cup Rally 2005 on Sunday 9th January 2005. Armed with trusty digital camera, he saw off the last fleet of rally cars from London to commence their 20 day endurance race to Dakar.

The 2005 rally included over forty vehicles including several hot hatchbacks (1400cc), rugged 4 x 4's as well the Classics, such as the Citreon 2CV, Ford GT-350, Morris Minor and the Ford Escort. Each vehicle had a Garmin GPS unit (typically a GPS V) which was secured down (in many instances) with a RAM-B-138 mount. These images capture the final preparation moments and then being flagged away.

With many tough and enduring challenges ahead for both car and drivers, its due to finish in 19 days by the Rose Lake in Dakar on January 27th.
